In Year 1 we have been studying Houses from the inside and outside. How can you help your child at home? Discuss and look at books on these topics in your Mother Tongue to help your child built up their Academic Language in their Mother Tongue. When you invest in your child’s Mother Tongue you are also investing in your child’s English development. This helps the children make links and learn. Words like rooftiles, gutter, driveway, chimney, steps, lawn etc. This vocaublary is not often part of everyday conversations at home.
