Speaking into Writing in Year 4

Year 4 EAL learners have been developing writing skills in connection with the IPC Unit Treasure. We used the writing process.

First we thought about a personal treasure that was important to us. Next we talked about it as talking about writing helps build up the language and ideas we need to write.

After this we planned our piece of writing, before drafting and editing - it's hard to think about sentences, spelling and punctuation all at the same time, so sometimes it's better to correct these after drafting.

Finally we wrote up our stories and illustrated them. Don't they look great! You can come and read the stories in the Year 4 EAL area.
