In Reception we have been talking about food. We played lots of games where we chose food we could put into our lunch box and what we could eat for dinner. We talked about what makes food healthy (it gives us energy and makes us strong) and unhealthy (it has lots of sugar which can destroy our teeth). The children had so much to share about food. Here are some of the things they said:
Anna: I love eat bread!
Jun: I'm also eat with the sandwich sausage.
Daniel R.: I like yogurt strawberry!
Diemante: If you eat a lot of carrots your eyes will be very good and your hair will grow.
Harper: I like fish!
We also learned the names of some food in other languages:
Pedro: maiz (corn-Spanish) and huevo (egg-Spanish)
Sofya: kukurza (corn-Russian)
Melania: goroshke (peas-Russian)
Daniel P: ervilhas (peas-Portuguese)
Sabrina: apelsinovysok (orange juice-Russian)

| Harper and Xin Yang are discussing whether they put bread on the correct plate (healthy food). |
 |
| Amira and Ashita agree that an apple is healthy. |
 |
| Sabrina, Sofya, Mela, Diemante, and Daniel are not sure if ice cream and wafers are healthy or unhealthy. But we all agreed with Diemante when she said, "You can eat a cake or a cupcake if it is your birthday, but only a little!" |
