We have been looking at 'doing words' or 'verbs'. When we work with new vocabulary, it helps us connect to our prior knowledge or mother tongue if we have to 'sort' the new words into categories or sequences.
Here Tara, Rei and Yi are sorting these daily routines into things they love to do, things that are ok and things they don't like to do. If you look closely, the things they don't like to do are: wake up, get out of bed and get dressed!!!
Some words are easy to remember. Some others are very tricky!
There are lots of ways that we practise our tricky words.
We like to move around when we practise as we think this helps us remember them.
Here are Alex and Oliver. They roll a dice and read the word. Then they have to find the word on the white board and hit it with their fly swat! Lots of fun.
We have also been working on our blending our letter sounds to make words.
Here Iluka and Fajr had to say the word, write the word,
stamp the word, cut and paste the word and draw a picture. They were champions!
Here is an example!
