What a great year we have had in EAL. It has been wonderful to see all the children learning so much English. We EAL teachers have the pleasure of seeing children all across the school blossom in both their learning and their friendships as their confidence grows.
Have a wonderful holiday. If you are leaving we wish you all well on your next adventures and if you are staying - see you in August.
Warm Wishes from the EAL Team.
Here are come quotes from the children about their year in EAL:
Year 5 student: My year of EAL was very fun. I had improved my English. I had known two words at the beginning of the year. I was making friends very hard. I could not join in class. I was very lonely. But EAL helped me. I was better. I could say “May I join your game?” or “The answer is…” I was getting better each day. Thank you the person who created EAL.
Year 5 student: This year in EAL I became better in writing, in spelling and in lots of things. But next year I promise to do even better. I think we can do EAL better by having golden time, camps and write more. In my opinion, Miss Susanna is and will be my beast EAL teacher ever.
Year 3 student: I feel happy to be with Miss Caroline because we always play games and I hope she has enjoyed too.
Year 5 student: In EAL I learn everything that I didn’t know. I was confused but but I had to learn writing, speaking and communication. I have been here months, almost a year. In my first day I was confused and scary, what I have to do, where is it. When I start EAL I was bad, that the only words that I knew was ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘what’. Now I am almost in Year 6 and I know more than three ridiculous words. But because of EAL and my teachers I know verbs, adjectives, adverbs, nouns past tens and etc.
Year 5 student: As I camed to this school I could not speak anything. My first week was hard. That’s why they took me out and put me in EAL. EAL helped me a lot.
Year 2 student: I feel at home, having fun and being safe in EAL
Year 6 student: In EAL I learned a lot of new words and grammar. It was really fun learning about grammar because I like grammar. I like EAL because the teacher can help us with things that we don’t understand and because they took their time to learn us a new language.
Year 4 Student: I first came to EAL I feel a little bit scared because I don’t know what to do. I very like EAL because we are play games.
Year 4 Student: I like to come to EAL. I feel happy in EAL because I talk English and I because (we play) memory games.
Year 4 Student: I was a bit scared in the first time I went to EAL and now I am happy to come to EAL. I like to play games and spelling is hard. EAL is different. In EAL I feel like I can talk and spell wrong and I feel ok.
Year 2 student: I think it is not that hard and the work is easy and nice.
Year 2 student: I think it is nice because I like to work a lot.
