June is ending and summer is beginning. Thank you for another year of wonderful moments in EAL. We have seen children develop their English further, grow and blossom here at ISH!
This week will be full of goodbyes and celebrations. We are saying goodbye to some of our children but also our beloved EAL teachers: Ms Miriam Munneke and Ms Susanne ten Berge Beck. We will miss them but wish them all the best for the future. We are delighted that Ms Georgina and Ms Bhauna will join our EAL team at ISH after the summer.
Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy great books with your children! The secret to helping your child grow as a reader is to create a fun or special atmosphere around reading. Helping your child become excited about stories will spark their imagination and enhance reading skills. There are many sides to being a successful reader. As you enjoy stories, talk to your child about the story to deepen their reading comprehension. Take time to study beautiful illustrations. Ask your child “why” and “how” questions about the characters and events as you read the book. Remember, it is not necessary to find books that are a reading challenge to help your child grow. When children read books that are easy for them; they build fluency and confidence. It also allows them to relax and enjoy the story. Children are just like us in the summer - They like a fun and easy read!

If you a traveling back to your country, you might also want to buy
some books that are related to the IPC units your child is going to study next
year in your Mother Tongue(s).
