Under the Y5 IPC unit: The Holiday Show, students have been preparing a tourist guidebook in their home languages, and in some cases English and additional languages too. Created by the talented Ms.van Mil, students are encouraged to provide home language greetings and important phrases, as well as more information about local customs to help tourists navigate through the country respectfully.
Here are some of the categories students are encouraged to bring across in their Home Country Guidebook.
Frequent tourism can also have negative, environmental impacts, which students are learning to be more aware of. Y5 students are therefore also asked to consider how they can advise tourists visiting their home countries to be more responsible, taking better care of the nature while they visit.
Below are a few exciting examples of student created travel guides, presenting important phrases and eco-friendly advice for visiting tourists.

Thank you Ms. van Mil for creating this enriching, multilingual project which helps our Y5 students to value their languages, cultures and the natural environment we are all part of. See you all in the next school year! Have a wonderful summer.
