We are changing the way we incorporate home languages into our curriculum. Instead of having a regular timetable slot we are weaving home languages into the main curriculum. Year 2 have been busy weaving!
Where does our food come from?
To answer this question students thought about food that is produced in their home country.
A new concept and word was the equator.
What happens to the weather when you are far away or near to the equator?
Students looked at the weather in their home country and labelled a world map.
To understand the weather in their home country they had to think about what they
would pack in their suitcase if they were visiting.This was an opportunity for
them to draw and label pictures in their home languages.
