The challenge with online learning for EAL teachers is how do you encourage and develop your students’ speaking and listening skills. Seesaw is a fantastic platform as it allows teachers and students to make activities with recordings. Instructions can be recorded and students can respond by recording their sentences.
This activity was seasonal and enabled learners to use vocabulary linked to Winter weather.
First of all students had to look at images and listen to a recording of the descriptions.
Students then had to record themselves saying some of the activities in their home language and in English.
Next they listened to some of the activities and had to find children doing them in the picture.
When the snow came at the weekend they enjoyed doing their favourite activities.
