Dear Parents,
The International School of the Hague has a subscription to Rosetta Stone. This is a well known language learning program offering 25 languages. The website for this is: http://thehague.rosettastoneclassroom.com. It is available on both school and home computers, as it is accessible through the internet.
The ISH Primary EAL Department has registered your child (Y2-Y6) for this program in order to help him or her improve their English. A welcome message, with a login (a six digit school ID number) and a password (“password” or “rosetta”) has been sent to your email a while ago.
If you haven’t received the email, please check your junk e-mail folder first. If you haven't received it, please contact your child’s EAL teacher or the school librarian, Mrs. Tomljanovich at i.tomljanovich@ishthehague.nl
One of the requirements for using this program is an Internet connection and a microphone/ speaker headset (or a build-in microphone), like the kind you use to communicate via Skype. When you start the program from home, it will check if you have the “speech component” software installed on your computer. You need to install this small program to be able record your child’s voice and check his or her pronunciation. There are two versions of English, British and American. It is up to you which one you want to use, however, at school most teachers tend to teach the British spelling. Make sure that you are consistent in using one of the versions as results do not transfer between the versions.
Your child’s EAL teacher has given him or her instructions about how to use this program and when to start. You may try using it as well for other languages, but please do not start with the English program yourself, as it will interfere with your child’s level. We hope your child will enjoy practicing English with Rosetta Stone!
Kind regards,
The EAL team
