Mrs Welsh has been working with the children during their busy classroom day, by helping them focus on English words and sounds. We have played games where the children thought about and tried the beginning sounds of words and sorted them in to groups. The children have also worked on games with colours and numbers using their current unit 'Bears' as a theme. We acted out the story of Goldilocks and the children loved using Daddy Bear's big deep voice to say "Whose been eating my porridge!"
Another focus in EAL is using English to get along with others. We have talked about how to say 'Stop' when someone does something we don't like, then to 'Think' what to do next. They then decide what to 'Do' next to solve the problem. The Butterflies are learning lots of English and getting along very well.
