Year 1 - Celebrations

In Year 1 the children are looking at 'Celebrations' in class, so we are working on building lots of celebration vocabulary.

Here we are looking at lots of different pictures of celebrations and things that we use for celebrations e.g. balloons, cakes, decorations.


Then we picked our favourite celebrations and drew a picture of them.  We told Ms Miriam about our pictures and she wrote what we said, in the corner.  We know a lot about them!

We also talked about songs that you sing at celebrations.  Then we found out that you can sing 'Happy Birthday' in many different languages.  Have a listen!

Camilly and Pedro told us about a celebration they have in Brazil called 'Carnival'.  They do special dancing at Carnival.  Pedro and Camilly are showing us here:

We are learning a lot about differences in celebrations but also, what celebrations have in common!
