In recent EAL lessons, Y3 students have been investigating different styles of poetry to find the language tools they can use to write their own creative poems later on. Some of the poetry lessons they have completed so far include:
-Imagining pom poms and pine cones as different kinds of objects through different angles
-Exploring a variety of poems to find out more about their rhythm, repetition, adjective use and rhyming words. Some students even drummed out poetry rhythm on the tables with their pencils to find the poem's true beat.
Year 3 students also learned more about personification as a poetry tool, when they were asked to imagine if objects as if they were living. What might they do or feel?
Taken together, our Y3 EAL students are gradually becoming more familiar and comfortable with using a range of language tools needed to bring their poetry messages to life.
