Why is this important?
Retelling stories helps us when we come to write our own stories.
- It helps us realise that our stories need to have characters, a place where the story takes place.
- It also helps us remember that a story usually has a problem and a solution.
- It gives us a lot of different sorts of settings, characters, problems and solutions to choose from. if we have read a story about a tiger, we might decide to put a tiger in our story.
These groups were watching a story called 'Harry the Dirty Dog'
Then we tried to work out who the characters were, what the settings were, what the problem was and what the solution was.
Here are two videos of us talking about the story:
Here is Harry the Dirty Dog if you would like to read it with your child!
