Year 4 - Writing Tongue Twisters

In class in Year 4, the students are writing poetry and at the moment they are focusing on Tongue Twisters.  We try to cover these in EAL while they are being done in class, to give us an extra chance to make connections to our Mother Tongue and to what we already know!

We inquired into these questions:
1. What is a tongue twister?
2. What makes it hard to say?
3. What 'language features' did we notice?
4. Do we know any tongue twisters in our own language?

Once we had done that we had a lot of fun trying to teach eachother tongue twisters in our languages!

The next session we wanted to write a tongue twister about a swan for our class.  We had already brainstormed all of the 's' words we could think of in class, so to extend this in EAL we sorted these into: NOUN, ADJECTIVE, VERB AND ADVERB.  This was a great learning experience... Listen to our discussion about language!

This was our finished result.  We used these to write our 'swan' tongue twister!  We can share these with you when they are finished.
