Shapes and counting in Reception

This week in Reception, the EAL team has started a maths focus. Earlier this week, Ms Tingting was working with the children on counting and shapes. The children played shapes bingo and have counted and sorted animals.

Ms Susanne played a counting game with the children. The game was called Orchard and the goal was to pick different coloured fruit from trees before the crow would arrive and eat it. The children were working together picking the fruit and counted the different coloured fruit.

Vaclav said, "Layla, your turn!" Later, he pretended to be the crow and said, "I'm hungry."

Arshvir told us which types of fruit he liked, "I like apples. I like cherries, too."
Janek was worried that the crow would eat the fruit and said, "Careful, this one (the bird is coming)."

Tahsin said, "He's going to eat the fruit."
Omar said, "He (the bird) is gonna be naughty."
