Similes and Metaphors

For this week in Y4 EAL, we have been learning about similes and metaphors. These types of figurative language can help our poetry (what we are doing right now in Writing Workshop) become more detailed and strong. 💪

We made foldables and translated what the words "simile," "metaphor," and "compares" are in our language(s). Inside the foldable, each of us wrote our own example of a simile and metaphor. Additionally, we translated them in our language(s). We also drew pictures to support our examples.

We broke down how to determine the meaning of similes and metaphors by asking ourselves:
  • What are the two things being compared?
  • What do they both have in common?

These questions also guided us when we were creating our own similes and metaphors.
