Storytelling

Children in the Early Years have been listening to and reading many different kinds of stories and many have even written some interesting information books.  In the EAL table, children have been practising retelling traditional stories using sequencing words and words that connect ideas and sentences.  We started with "The Three Little Pigs".

First, the children watched a short video of the story.

Next, using pictures, they told the story in their own words.

Finally, using the stick puppets, they acted out the story, which they had fun doing, especially while using different voices for the different characters.

We will be listening to more stories in the coming weeks and will be practising retelling them.  Do you have a traditional story from your home country?  Perhaps you can share it with your child in your home language and they can share it with their friends.
