We learnt that they do it to hide from other animals that might eat them and that they do it by hiding somewhere that is the same colour as them.
We watched this clip on Youtube and tried to find the hiding animals. Can you find them all?
Then we thought about what would be a good place for these butterflies to camouflage. Which do you think is better?
Then we looked at different insects and tried to draw a habitat for them where they would be able to camouflage. What do you think? Yi, Rei, Ida, Luca and Tara drew this. Can you see the animals?
And then Adam added special vocabulary to our display.
And finally, Thibault looked at his clothes and decided that HE could camouflage too!!
We have also been describing insects. We wondered what made some bugs 'insects' and some not. Here we are really looking closely and reporting what we saw!
We spent some time grouping them. One time grouped them based on how many legs they had, another time we grouped them on colour and another time we grouped them based on if they were insects or not. We learnt that insects have 3 body parts and 6 legs!
