We want to be able to add detail to our sentences, as well as describe and classify insects so not only do we need vocabulary but we need certain TYPES of vocabulary such as:
- describing words
- names of insects
- words to show what the insects are doing
- words to show where the insects are.
With the Year 1 students, this is an introduction to the structure of a sentence and to grammatical terms (adjectives, nouns, verbs and prepositions).
We put our ideas into a predictable sequence which made it easier to build sentences with more detail. Have a look!
While we wrote these words in English, we explained what they were in our Mother Tongue and/or Identity Languages. We also used pictures and diagrams where possible.
