In Year 1 this week, the classes are beginning their Unit looking at electricity.
Some of the vocabulary around electricity can be tricky, so in EAL we decided to 'tune in' and do some activities that would help us become familiar with the words and concepts we will need in the classroom.
First, we designed a house.
We decided what we wanted and Ms Miriam drew it on a big piece of paper.
Then we thought about all the things that go inside a house.
We sorted these into the rooms that they belong into.
We discussed that some things went in more than one room
After that, we drew these objects into the house we had designed and tried to label these.
Then we discussed that some of these things need to be 'plugged in' to work.
We wondered what 'plugging them in' meant they needed.
